Dr. Pamela Amatta is a dedicated Medical Doctor and researcher with over eight years of progressive experience in clinical practice, health systems management, and hospital leadership. She currently serves as the Deputy Medical Superintendent at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital, Nairobi, where she provides strategic and technical leadership in clinical operations, service delivery improvement, and quality assurance across departments.
In her role, Dr. Amatta oversees multidisciplinary teams, coordinates implementation of national and county health programs, and ensures adherence to clinical standards and patient safety protocols. She plays a key role in strengthening hospital systems through data-driven decision-making, evidence-based clinical practice, and integration of advanced diagnostic and electronic health record (EHR) technologies.
Her professional background includes service at Dagoretti Sub-County Hospital, where she previously held the position of Medical Superintendent, as well as clinical roles at Aga Khan University Hospital, Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital, Tenwek Hospital and Wema Healthcare. She has extensive experience managing paediatric emergencies, neonatal intensive care, infectious diseases, and chronic conditions, and has contributed to the design and execution of numerous community and donor-supported health programs.
Dr. Amatta is currently pursuing a Master’s in International Public Health at Liverpool John Moores University (UK) and holds a postgraduate diploma in Leadership and Management in Global Health from the University of Washington. Her commitment to continuous learning is complemented by professional certifications in Paediatric Immediate Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, Basic Surgical Skills (COSESCA), and Diabetes Care.
Beyond her administrative and clinical duties, Dr. Amatta is actively engaged in community health initiatives. She volunteers as a Medical Advisor and Researcher with the Sickle Cell Uhuru Trust, where she supports advocacy, research, and patient education to improve outcomes for individuals living with sickle cell disease.
Dr. Amatta is passionate about strengthening health systems, promoting equitable access to quality healthcare, and advancing Kenya’s vision for universal health coverage through compassionate leadership, innovation, and collaboration.
