PAEDIATRIC INTENSIVIST
Job Description

Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced Paediatric Intensivist to strengthen its Paediatric and Critical Care Services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized care for critically ill neonates, infants, and children in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
  • Lead and manage paediatric critical care admissions, including ventilatory and haemodynamic support
  • Support emergency and trauma care for critically ill children
  • Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds and care planning
  • Provide mentorship and clinical support to medical officers, residents, and nursing staff
  • Participate in morbidity and mortality reviews, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Develop and implement PICU protocols in line with national and international guidelines
  • Ensure patient safety, ethical practice, and adherence to hospital policies

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

  • MBChB or equivalent qualification
  • MMed in Paediatrics and Child Health
  • Fellowship, subspecialty training, or recognized qualification in
  • Paediatric Critical Care / Intensive Care Medicine
  • Registered and licensed with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC)
  • Valid Annual Practising Licence
  • At least 2–5 years post-subspecialty experience (added advantage)
  • Competence in paediatric ventilation, invasive monitoring, and advanced life support
  • Certification in PALS/ACLS/NRP is an added advantage
  • Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
