Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital is a leading healthcare facility committed to delivering exceptional patient care. We are seeking a Mental Health Nurse to provide specialized nursing care to individuals experiencing mental health challenges. This role involves patient assessment, therapeutic support, medication administration, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to promote recovery, independence, and overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct mental health assessments and monitor patients’ progress.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor side effects.
- Provide therapeutic interventions such as counseling, psychoeducation, and crisis management.
- Support patients in developing coping strategies and life skills.
- Educate families and caregivers about mental health conditions, treatment options, and recovery support.
- Advocate for patients’ rights, ensuring safety, dignity, and confidentiality.
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with healthcare regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent diploma.
- Registered Mental Health Nurse (KRMN)
- Prior experience in psychiatric wards, community mental health, or related settings is advantageous.
- 2 years’ experience in mental Health.

- Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders and treatment approaches.
- Excellent communication and active listening skills.
- Empathy, patience, and emotional resilience.
- Ability to de-escalate crises and manage challenging behaviors.
- Teamwork and collaboration with multidisciplinary professionals.
